Samsung has upgraded this model with S5233 in lieu of S5230.. price is around 9k by now.. try that one out instead!

Advantage

Looks very classy -

Good Display quality

good Call quality
Good touch interface – can b compared to the one in i phone
Battery (lasts 2 days with moderate to heavy use)

Music and video player does its job
Camera quite good
Web browsing
8GB memory card support

Messaging / smsin is simple and easy !

Games are fun

Samsung New PC Studio s/w works well with the phone

Has widget option which is very useful for fast access to any application !

Lets you select a picture of your own as background for menu !

Price

The screen automatically gets locked when u make a call, Unlike other touch phone example sony Ericsson G 900i

the photo editing s/w is awesome! lets u have great fun with photos - can create a collage usin the phone !

Smart lock feature

Disadvantages
-Cannot view SMS's while on a phone call. Can only write SMS's and emails during calls
-Document viewing is a pain
-Stylus cannot be attached to the phone's body
-File Manager can be much better
-Have to buy a separate screen guard as default one already is on its way out when you're buying the phone
-Design decision related to wallpapers in topmost screen

-Default browser link clicking is a bit iffy.
-No 'Back' button in the touch interface

Simple and clear comparison between Samsung star and lg cookie !

STAR

Looks -

Star anayday as it looks more stylish

Cookie looks like a plastic box !

Performance – touch interface

Fast ad very responsive –

Star has glass touch technology which is same to the one in I phone

Cookie has fibre touch technology which tends to heat up with over usage and in the long run cause problems

Sound clarity

Very good- loud - and clear …

The clarity is good no doubt but when you play songs on high volume it tends to distort the sound output ..

Video clarity -

It is very decent for the price

Same as star

Memory -

240 mb internal phone memory

Expandable til 8 gb

The offer as of now in Bangalore is 2 gb free memory card but I think it dosnt really matter as performance wise Star is much better

Display clarity -

Star is better as it looks more polished

Cookie looks cheap

Weight

Star is VERYYY light weight !!

Cookie feels much heavier

Widgets -

The widgets are very user friendly and apt !!

U might have to touch the cookie a little to much for the touch to work smoothly !

Stylis

Provides one in the box !

The cookie has the stylis in the phone itself !

Good quality for the price…
